A Quick Guide To Picking The Right Pressure Washer Tip

Posted on

If you recently purchased a pressure washer, you need to make sure that you have the right type of pressure washer tip for the job that you want to do. Pressure washer tips are easy to tell apart because they are different colors. Here is a quick guide to what color pressure washer tip you need for different types of jobs.

#1 Red Tips

If you want the strongest spray that you can possible get, go with a red pressure tip. This type of pressure washer strip will produce a stream of water that is so strong it can wash stains out of concrete and get rid of multiple layers of mud and dirt. However, you have to be carefully when you use the red tip. It is so strong that it can do serious damage as well. It can actually scratch metal surfaces and damage surfaces that are sensitive and fragile. This is only for serious jobs and should be used with caution.

#2 Yellow Tip

Yellow tips have a very small spray pattern. It is really strong but not as crazy as the red tip that has zero degree of spray. Yellow tips are great when you want to clean concrete, walls, roofs, and even your drains with just some strong water pressure. You should not use a cleaning attachment with the yellow tip though; the pressure is too strong and can end up embedding the chemicals into whatever you are cleaning. It is too strong to use any cleaning chemicals with.

#3 Green Tip

A green tip has a wider spray pattern and it is better for cleaning hard surfaces like your brick patio, deck, and walkways. A green tip also works well when you want to use a cleaning agent with your pressure washer. It is strong enough to get the job done, but not too strong to do damage to what you are cleaning.

#4 White Tip

A white tip has a larger spray pattern, which makes it work well for more delicate surfaces such as the siding on your home and your windows. The stream is still strong enough to clean your home but is also weak enough to not do damage to these more sensitive surfaces.

#5 Black Tip

Finally, a black tip has a very large spray pattern. It is more for getting surfaces wet than it is for seriously cleaning anything. You can use a black tip for watering your lawn and plants and for washing your vehicles.
